While we are walking this world we search for a place where we can establish our safehouse. A place of trustworthiness, peacefulness, happiness, and understanding of everything related to the self. We walk side to side, up and down, south to north, east to west, and we find nothing but experiences related to those quests. The reason is simple: we are looking at the wrong places. The place we may call our safehouse has nothing to do with the geographic position on the Earth where it is located, but with the state of mind we achieve when we are at peace. The moment we realise the place we are looking for is within the self, it is the moment we understand the strength of its defences is supported by our capability to be resilient, fault-tolerant, adaptive, and mobile while walking the path towards a meaningful life.

When we are using a computer system supporting our daily activities we are relying on an external service, which is something we have little or no control of. Failures may occur on such systems, and therefore we are prone to deal with the consequences of such failures on our own perspective and relativity, while we may wait for someone responsible for the system fixing the problem. Everytime we depend on something else, or someone else, we get our hands tied, and that is a very dangerous situation if we are talking about our well-being. It does not mean we have to isolate the self with no dependency at all on another. It means we have to be prepared to activate our safe operation the moment we observe a failure on the connection we are dependent on, like a resilient and real-time computer system does every time it is subjected to restrictions violating fundamental properties of such a dependent link.

In the case of a human being, anything with origins on the outside, which is able to cause discomfort in the self, can be modelled as a fault. The majority of time, we have no power to fix the source of a fault properly, as it depends on actions performed and controlled on the outside. While in such a situation, which is part of living our own life, what we can do is enhance the self to be resilient, tolerant, and adaptive regarding the faults we experience, and have contact with, throughout the connections we establish during our life path. Obnoxious behaviours can be considered sources of faults, and we have to learn how to tolerate them properly. Buddha, the enlightened one, was a master in such fault-tolerance, providing humanity with wonderful teachings about the foundations for creating our own strategies, which are adapted to our own perspective and relativity.

The moment we realise enhancing the self is a lifetime journey, it is the moment we understand the impermanence of being resilient, tolerant, and adaptive to any fault we experience during our life path.
