Suffering is something we have to deal with by ourselves. However, it makes sense, the moment we could do it, not keeping the self within an environment where negativity dominates the scene. No matter how much kindness and compassion we generate from within, it would always be challenged by discriminatory, or even violent acts, implying the need to apply self-defence measures the majority of the time. The moment we remain facing negativity for a very long time, with no clear sight about an external change, it is the moment we understand peace of mind is what makes us move forward, embracing the good within, and renouncing anything related to suffering itself. Like Buddha, the enlightened one, we can choose to understand and free the self from suffering, instead of sacrificing the consciousness we have at hand.

There is nothing better than realising and understanding we are not able to control what is outside the self, being aware that no matter how good energy we are able to generate, the external would only resonate back the moment people on the outside step out of suffering by their own. We can remember slavery as an example of that. Slaves were treated like a disposable thing, and no single person was able to end such a terrible practise, as everyone recognising the atrocities of slavery was afraid to face who get the profits of human trafficking and labour exploration. The ones who have tried were prosecuted, or even hunted down.

The idea of keeping the self into an environment where negativity dominates the scene is only a matter of imposed restrictions, such as old marriages where the husband holds the possession of the wife, and she could not leave whether her rights had been violated.

The moment we get conscious about all the imposed restrictions,  which keep the self into an environment we are totally sure is against our own love nature, it is the moment we understand we could not live our entire life in such a place, having a similar realisation that Buddha has had, the moment he has decided to leave the palace to step into his own journey towards enlightenment.

The more we realise our light is generated from the inside out, the more we understand we are not defined by what comes from the outside.
