By practising our mind training we are approaching the turning point of the waterfall: the more we practise, the less effort we need to make our positive energy and attitude to flow, freely, smartly, and getting a ride on top of the negativity we have contact with in the present moment. By using our consciousness we do not embrace such negativity but take it as an opportunity to learn, acquire new knowledge, and enhance the self towards the achievement of a peaceful state. The moment we realise how the flow of negative energy works, it is the moment we understand how we can take advantage of it in the duty of supporting the growth of kindness and compassion, while walking the path of a meaningful life.
It is easy to think about a negative event the moment we are embracing suffering, enjoying little or nothing the good life has to offer, even while seeing a wonderful, and beautiful picture of a waterfall. The experience of suffering, out of understanding, may cause the self to be averse to it, trying to avoid repeating such an experience as much as we could. After analysing [and understanding] some of the Buddha's teachings, we could see pleasure may hide a huge feeling of aversion, something we would like to avoid by replacing the recognition of negativity by the illusion of getting away from anything that has to be faced in the present moment. It may work on a short-term basis but it may corrupt the self in the long run. By letting consciousness out of the equation, and not taking responsibility to face any negativity by ourselves, using a kind and compassionate attitude, the more we do it, the more the self gets deteriorated by such avoidance. That is where the use of consciousness, and the practise of our mind training become our most trustworthy tools at hand.
We see negativity and we do not feel intimidated. We feel the manifestation of a negative emotion and we do not feel frustrated. We experience suffering and we recognise an opportunity of learning, and understanding what is not part of our love nature. We grow as a person, supporting the growth of the society as a whole towards more love-based driven attitudes.
The moment we realise we can diminish the experience of suffering, and its associated negativity, with consciousness at hand, it is the moment we understand such an astonishing result comes through acquisition of knowledge, and understanding of any situation we become part of.
