In the middle of a dark environment, where we have little or no hope about the outcome we are experiencing in the present moment, there is also the power of the mind, the light growing within our heart to keep consciousness at hand. The only certainty we have is about the present moment, our breath, our capability to be alive, and the power of our own mind we can manifest to deal with an obnoxious situation through kind and compassionate attitudes. The more we keep the peace of mind, the more we can realise and understand we are in control of our own actions. The moment we realise, no matter what is happening on the outside, there is no negativity that could diminish the light we have inside, it is the moment we understand hiding and being afraid is nothing more than embracing suffering, accepting [out of understanding] any situation with no questions asked.
Believing in the self is understanding we are capable of facing anything, anytime, and anywhere, no matter the circumstances. It does not mean we would be perfect while facing something we have little, or no knowledge about. It means we have a wonderful capability of adapting, learning, observing, and understanding the relationships between the events, and the association of their occurrence with our own self.
We may get afraid of the unknown. We may even get desperate about the possibility of stepping out of a comfort zone established in the present moment. We may embrace suffering but we have the choice to not become cowards of making suffering a way of life, entering in a deep state of inertia, taking huge doses of drugs, accepting everything out of understanding, and turning our back to life, implying seeing everything as disposable entities. The environment we are inserted into may be drowned under darkness, and its chaotic state, but we are human beings, we are thinking creatures, and we do not give up the light we have inside.
Our ancestors have shown they were not afraid of darkness, and by their symbol of resilience, and resistance against tyranny, slavery, dominance and control, they never turn their backs to life, keeping pushing love and compassion, the light they had inside, even during moments of oppression.
Buddha, Jesus Christ, Krishna, and any symbol of happiness, joy, love, and prosperity, represent the unlimited power generated by love. Each life is unique. Each life is important. Each life can contribute to the task of establishing a wonderful world to live. The moment we realise the importance of our own life to the universe, it is the moment we understand we may be tiny but the details make all the difference.
