We cannot control what a person chooses to get imprinted on his/her hands, which can be influenced by a conditioning promoted by an external entity. The moment we use the power of our own mind we get to choose what values we would like to follow, and to pursue, on the path towards a meaningful life. However, there are some values that cannot be carried on during the journey through such a path, and harming another is one of them. The moment we realise we have no rights to harm another, and no way to control an external action of someone else, it is the moment we understand our conscious decisions should be based on the knowledge we are able to acquire from the observation of the environment in the present moment.
Life is the highest gift we have received, and it is something we have to protect by practising our mind training. Observing, reasoning, realising, and understanding are some activities that are part of the awakening process to become aware about what is happening in the present moment. Those activities support reaching our own consciousness, putting it at hand, and establishing a solid foundation to enhance the self and achieve peace of mind. Love is based on the care for life, and life is generated by love we cultivate deep inside.
The idea of harming another is totally against the love nature imprinted into our DNA. It is, indeed, a conditioned act promoted by the inability to step out from a state of suffering, while getting rewarded by remaining in that state. Consciousness is punished to be consulted, chaos is observed as a wonderful feature, and the idea of selfishness a characteristic that represents the hierarchical mark between the old tradition of masters and slaves. There is no equal but the one whom possesses something that is part of my own interests, and the one whom possesses nothing that is worth a similar and, at most, respectful treatment.
If we look a bit into events reported in history we are able to see wars, atrocities, and any kind of observed conflict is derived from the suffering manifested by groups, or individuals, who have had no capability to use consciousness in a meaningful way. Wars by the interest to possess what another has at hand. The selfishness to prevent the growth of another because self-enhancement requires time, and personal effort, that is not intended to be engaged in. The manifestation of suffering unable to recognise an act that has been conditioned for generations, and continue to be executed out of consciousness.
We cannot change the past, or control the acts performed by someone else. However, we can get conscious about what matters most: cultivating life itself. The moment we realise the cultivation of life is based on defending our live vessel by practising our mind training, it is the moment we understand each one of us is able to change the world by changing our own self.
