It is not an easy task working out on enhancing the self, and practising our mind training on a regular basis. No two persons have neither the same walking path nor perspective, as our persona, personal space, relativity, and sight of life are unique, and not the same. We work with the tools we have at hand. We practise within the environment we live in, and facing the challenges such an environment presents to us. However, we enhance using the same tool as the foundation: consciousness. The moment we realise enhancing the self requires consciousness at hand, it is the moment we understand why a meaningful life has similar traces even in different and unique places.
Everyday we wake up to face challenges life presents to us, conscious or unconscious about what lessons we could extract from those challenges. Some of the challenges are easy going, requiring little or no effort from our consciousness to keep focused, delegating to the unconscious mind the task of responding to any request in an automatic way. However, there are challenges we have no way to teach our unconscious mind about handling the environmental pool of events, as observation, reasoning, and understanding are fundamental activities we have to perform, in order to face any variation of the current challenge that may have the power to step right on top of our toes. Suffering is then manifested the moment consciousness gets out of the driver’s seat.
The consciousness any one of us has the power to tap into, as a way to search for knowledge, is able to provide us the wisdom of recognising within the surroundings the difficulties and the resulting behaviours we use as case studies of our own mind training. While performing such a training our consciousness separates anything that we are able to observe in some sense in two groups: (1) events related and close to our love nature; and (2) events apart from our love nature. If the environment we live in concentrates the majority of events within the first group, our training becomes focused on the wonderful aspects of our love nature we could enhance. On the contrary, if the environment we live in concentrates the majority of events in the second group, our training becomes focused on finding the right aspects of our love nature that have the power to diminish the negativity, chaos, and darkness we have contact with, in order to enhance the self. The purpose is the same but the training performed is completely different.
The moment we realise becoming close to our love nature is what matters most, no matter the kind of mind training we do, it is the moment we understand why loneliness sometimes is a wonderful tool to extract knowledge deep from the self.
