We have to be conscious of not expecting someone waiting for us to support all the decisions we make, as we are free and independent individuals. We have to be conscious that no person is obliged to serve us as we please, no matter either the environment we are inserted or the circumstances we are experiencing. Everything we do in life is based on the fact that we are giving or receiving attention in a specific situation. Sometimes that attention is obnoxious. Sometimes that attention is kind and compassionate. Anytime we are exchanging either positive or negative energy, experiencing the impermanence associated with such a trade. Observing negativity around and preventing it to be part of our inner self are the biggest challenges we have to face, anytime, anywhere.
Imagine we buy a new smartphone, and we associate it to the current number we have. We are then able to use the associated data plan, and the services provided by the network provider. Imagine one day we open our account at the provider’s website and we realise the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) is not the same we see informed in our smartphone. It is a clear indication that something is wrong in our account, and there are a few hypotheses about how wrong it can be, from a simple mistake at the provider’s end while updating the associated database, to the possibility that someone else could be changing the information, e.g., to perform privacy violations, either from an internal script or modifying such IMEI number while it has been transmitted through the provider’s network. All is out of our control, and we could do nothing without the help of others. What could we do to solve such a problem? One may ask. It is a classic example where we have to rely on others, their generosity, honour, and their willingness to help us get answers about the issue.
As we can see, sometimes, even when we have leads about how to solve a problem, we cannot do it by ourselves. We have to observe and understand that no matter how awful a situation is, we may not have all the tools at hand to get the proper answer and clear understanding about what is in the surroundings. What could we do in such a situation? One may ask. We have to work in the domain we have full control: Our own mind. We have to search for answers about how to prevent negativity to get deep inside, and how to see the situation at a positive angle and perspective. We have also to realise that we may not be 100% sure about what is in our surroundings but we have to be conscious no matter what it is, there is something we have to work to keep in check: our inner peace.
The moment we let negativity disturbs our inner peace, it is the moment we are vulnerable to fall into any trap promoted within a state of suffering. Thus, we have to realise the enhancement of the self is something essential, improving our consciousness to either help or be helped. An unconscious mind is always a vulnerable one.
