The moment we ask ourselves “what is the kind of environment we would like to live in?”, it is the moment we realise what our nature is. A peaceful environment, where kindness and compassion are the key values of a life in community, is something precious. It does not mean we live inserted in a utopia, where everything is perfect and we have to deal with no problems at all. It means hatred is not in the driver’s seat, and we can realise in the surroundings what is real and what is fabricated by the simple use of our consciousness and the power of our own mind. It does not mean we are overthinking, and starting an infinite journey to leverage anything or anyone to our cause. It means we are in the path of a peaceful journey, the achievement of inner peace that is the foundation of a strong connection with the universe. A connection walking hand-to-hand with our consciousness, making enjoyment of simple but precious moments delightful.

It is very difficult to find such a peaceful environment. One may say. It may be difficult but we have a lifetime to perform our mind training not to be searching for such a place, but to transform ourselves, enabling us to recognise what whether serves us in complement to the promotion of our inner peace. It is indeed a path that is different for everyone, regarding the impermanence of the universe and the uniqueness of every event we experience in our life. The moment we look inside with a conscious mind, it is the moment we are able to find out the values we love to nurture and to get constant contact with. We are also able to recognise the kind of values we know we have to deal with but we seek no incorporation, conditioning, or even constant contact with during our life journey. The balance of positive and negative, good and bad, right and wrong, beautiful and ugly, or even internal and external, starts within ourselves. Instead of fighting with fire towards others, it is easy to use fire to light up the energy of love we have inside, burning up the high consciousness to achieve the impossible, unbelievable, miraculous, and mysterious.

Some could laugh, others just ignore, or a bunch criticise in a negative way. The true fact is Buddha has already uncovered a beautiful knowledge present in the foundation of life in society, which we have to practise to incorporate it within our imperfection. Such a beautiful knowledge says that hatred is powerless without our reaction, which means no one is able to do anything with us with no negative reaction in a scene we experience. It does not mean we have to be in a defenceless posture, accepting everything coming in our direction. It means any reaction has to be meaningful, protecting life in the first place, and promoting understanding as the ultimate result.

The moment we realise the power we have at hand makes life so beautiful and interesting, it is the moment that every step we take towards a peaceful state is a step close to the light itself.
