There are moments when we have to pause a little bit to feel the energy of love growing inside, preparing ourselves to face negativity during the walk towards a meaningful life. Our mind training is performed to keep our mind and body on shape, sharpened into positive energy to face injustice, discrimination, unfairness, all of it in coming from an accumulated negative strike. A blow of darkness at its highest level with no mercy, no kindness, no compassion, no regrets, and mainly, no fundamental rule that says harming others is something out of the table. It may be hard to realise such a dark behaviour coming from a human being but we may expect anything from a person experiencing a state of suffering, which is driven by his/her unconscious mind. It does not mean we have the rights to promote and replicate the same awful behaviour towards anything or anyone. It means we have to find by ourselves a way to establish our defences, protecting our live vessel while cultivating kindness and compassion deep inside. Moments of pause and contemplation are meant for that: to separate [clearly] the negativity we experience from the power of love we have inside, as dealing with darkness requires shining our bright light.
The tales of Buddha Shakyamuni going outside the palace through a journey required to understand suffering comes to my mind everytime the experience of darkness is all around, mainly now in the middle of a pandemic period promoted by COVID-19. Going out of the palace is a metaphor we could use to represent stepping out of the world of illusions we may get educated about. A world where any person has achieved consciousness, promoting kindness and compassion all around. A world where a person coming from a poor family is handled and treated the same way as a son of a diplomat. A world where poverty, racism, discrimination, and social inequalities are part of a history book, observed and studied from the past events. A world where education becomes a diplomatic passport, no matter from which kind of family we come from, enabling the entrance, the traveling, the work, the exercise of free speech as equals anywhere in the world. A world where laws are not bent by the amount of money in our bank accounts, the family we come from, our influence, the influence of our parents, grandparents, and so on in society.
The described utopia would require little or no mind training at all to live a meaningful life, as it could be described as a view of paradise, a clear manifestation of Avidyā (the mundane ignorance) if compared to the world, the society we experience at the present moment. In fact, our mind training is required to realise the presence of hatred in the world, and the needs of love to promote peace from within.
The difficulties we experience and the challenges we face are ours to deal with. We have just to realise it is not an option throwing our life away just because what we are facing is more challenging than what we have imagined. The moment we give up our life, accepting anything darkness present to us, it is the moment we just let our unconscious mind get into the driver’s seat, being out of control about what is happening to our life at the present moment. It is indeed a clear indication suffering has been embraced at full scale. It is a clear indication we need to pause, breathe, observe, understand, and realise the power is inside, and we can use it to shine our beautiful light.
