Sometimes the environment provides harsh restrictions we have to face during our daily activities. Those restrictions may present difficulties, situations we do not expect. Besides the example illustrated by the picture, COVID-19 is another example of imposed difficulties we have to face in the environment we live at the present moment. To step out of a state of suffering, which may be triggered by the experience of such awful situations, we have to adapt to keep shining our love inside. Sometimes we are not conscious to realise the solutions we may have thoughts about are not suitable to be applied in the current situation. It would be wonderful to melt down the snow and the ice out of the bike, but do we have such a power at hand? How do we handle snow and ice on the entire path we have to ride on by? We have not to be worried if all the answers to all the questions raised at the present moment are not available to us. It is better to move slow and conscious than fast and unconscious to the fact that suffering is just a step ahead. The moment the unconscious mind is in the driver’s seat, it is the moment the next step may result in falling to a suffering trap.
Let us imagine we are in a place performing some shops. We are with our child beside us. We know we are able to keep our body warm, even during cold temperatures, by using the power of our mind and the clothes we are using at the present moment. While we are shopping, snow and ice get everywhere, imposing difficulties to move around from place to place. We may be prepared to face such an environmental restriction but is our child prepared too? The child can run around easily, and he/she has been educated to ask the why’s and how’s of any situation he/she experiences. We have two options: explaining the situation or hiding what is happening outside by fabricating a completely different scene inside. What should we decide? Let us think about it.
No matter what we decide, we have to be conscious we are not able to remove ourselves from the fact that problems, difficulties, or challenges we face in the environment we live in do not disappear with a snap of a finger. Sometimes we are lucky and the impermanence of the universe changes the configuration of the scene, we take advantage of the position we have secured, and external problems, difficulties, or challenges just get out of our sight. However, it does not mean we have been successful in dealing with it from the inside. It may indicate we have had no opportunity of observing and understanding it consciously, recognising both positive and negative energies associated with the subject.
The more we perform our mind training, the more we realise knowledge and continuous education is what prepares ourselves to do the impossible, facing the unbelievable, dealing with the awful, and controlling what seems to be out of control to a naked eye: our own mind.
