There is nothing more delightful than the acquisition of knowledge, which is the entrance in a world of uncertainty where every new discovery is a new beginning. It is by acquisition of knowledge we are able to get conscious. It is by acquisition of knowledge we are able to face challenges life presents to us no matter the circumstances. It is by acquisition of knowledge we get ready, waiting for the right opportunity to improve quality of life by our own efforts, with no need of shortcuts, detours, or harming others. It is by acquisition of knowledge we support our mind training, step by step, with our own pace, stronger than the day before, lighter than the recent past, faster than the moment that just has passed, and awakened to the world as one has never seen.

Knowledge is power, and the ones who are able to acquire knowledge are holders of such power. Let us forget a bit the world of fictional movies and focus on the present moment. Imagine we are in the middle of nowhere and the only way to get out of that place is to lift a specific rock, a heavy one, by using anything we can get in the surroundings. Let me ask: what do we need to acquire to be outside of that hypothetical situation, no matter the solution? If you guess knowledge, you are wonderfully right. It is time to realise knowledge is the foundation of consciousness. No knowledge means no consciousness at all. It is clear as crystal if we pause a bit to think what Buddha’s teachings are, and what Buddha recommends us to do with such teachings.

Let us think about anything we would like to do in the present moment. Imagine how awesome it would be kissing the love of our life. We need, at least, the proper knowledge to know who the person is. We need knowledge to be aware of where we could meet to promote such a joyful moment. We need knowledge to know the person feels the same way as ourselves. We need knowledge to recognise such love the moment we put our eyes on the person, face to face, ready to get protected by our arms.

We need knowledge to understand the lack of knowledge. We need knowledge to understand knowledge itself. The moment we start thinking about knowledge and its relation with life, it is the moment we are able to realise knowledge is life, and life is knowledge. From the very first moment of our beautiful lives we learn something every single moment, by either life experience or by proper education disseminated, e.g., in books. Anyone has contact with knowledge every single day, no matter the social status, gender, skin colour, nationality, religion, or any other characteristic we could use to describe a group of human beings in a non-discriminatory way.

The moment we realise knowledge is life, it is the moment we understand life is not possible without knowledge.
