There is no way to stay alert all the time, observing everything around, recognising from where a threat may approach us. It is a waste of energy, an exhaustion, the entrance in a path of self-deterioration if we try to keep ourselves at a sentinel position with no rest. All of us need a rest, a time where we lay down with just one specific goal: relaxing. It is by our consciousness we realise rest is part of our mind training. It is an important phase, complementing the active ones. Let us take time to rest, as no rest may imply in no more time.
The moment we start feeling exhausted with any situation we experience in life, such as excessive workload, it is the moment we have to realise we need to rest. Rest is part of our mind training. Rest is what makes us recharging our energy to keep up facing the challenges we are facing at the present moment. Rest is not an option, it is a requirement. There is no way to stay alert all the time with no rest. There is no way of no experiencing the negative consequences to our body and mind derived from long periods of no rest. There is no way to experience all the wonderful benefits of mind training if we take no time to hold still relaxing in a proper way.
We need to take time for ourselves, nurturing the nature of love we have inside. It is by nurturing such nature we are able to differentiate darkness from light, good from bad, and wrong from right at our own perspective and relativity. Our capability to observe, recognise, and understand those differences is what makes us wonderful creatures.
If we put aside moments of rest to keep going, suffering reaches our front door, eventually. Negative feelings may rise more easily, physical injuries may be experienced, a lack of energy may be presented, and the moment we realise we need a break, it is the moment we get conscious that we have already stepped into a state of suffering. There is no shame to get rest. There is no need to feel weak. There is no need to consider ourselves not strong enough to keep going. Each one of us has our own limits and we present an incredible strength the moment we recognise that.
Let us take a rest, take time, observe, recognise, understand, and believe in the light we have inside.
