There is no perfection but knowledge and wisdom. At a close range we are able to observe tiny exchanges of energy, the balance of positive and negative charges required to keep our inner peace in check. With the exchanges of energy we have changes, and observing such changes we are able to see the impermanence, its nature, and the natural law dictating the universe. The moment we get the right balance of positive and negative charges no probe is able to see anything. However, we know there is something, and that something is at balance.

We have an incredible ability of self-control, using the power of the mind to achieve the impossible. Self-control comes with practise, the outcome of the mind training adapted to our perspective and relativity. The results we seek do not come free of charge. As his holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, is used to saying: our enemy is our best teacher.

To be able to trust wisely we need to know what deception is. To be able to love unconditionally we need to know what hate is. To be able to be kind and compassionate we need to know what obnoxious is. Positive and negative, light and dark, it is the balance of the good and the bad we have to master. What is the difference between light and darkness? One may ask. By my own experiences I could say it is the outcome, the results a person seeks by their own actions.

If we seek revenge, vengeance, harm to the life of others, deception, hate, anger, or being obnoxious with another, we are clearly in a state of suffering. We are able to recognise the traces of suffering by realising our own suffering, and the suffering our enemy disseminates, speaks, acts, or fabricates in the surroundings. The clearance comes with consciousness. That clearance generates knowledge and wisdom.

Are the different types of suffering a kind of mental disease? One may ask. I like to discuss the meaning of that question by asking: what would you do if you want to get your body in shape? Would you take anabolic steroids to achieve that goal, considering the cost of compromising the health of your whole system? Or would you start to workout your body and mind, taking care of your diet to achieve the same goal naturally? We may seek help to achieve our goal, or we may do it on our own. The moment you realise the answer, it is the moment you are able to understand the meaning and importance of consciousness and the associated mind training.
