Being kind and soft at the present moment is nurturing the appreciation of the self, the positive feelings we feel about being alive, walking our path and living a meaningful life. It is facing discrimination with a clear perspective, indifference with an open heart, and injustice with a kind, compassionate, and fearless attitude. It is facing judgements, gossip, and negativity with clarity of mind. It is enjoying life no matter how unfair, inmoral, and obnoxious an environment is. It is like being in the jungle, facing a deadly threat with a genuine and sincere smile, a lovely figure with a heart of a lion and the strength of a dragon, capable of self-defence if required but hoping such a threat to either get out of suffering or realising a strong mind is capable of the impossible not by force but by will.

How could I face something I have negative feelings about? One may ask. With no consciousness we could observe the use of an approach denoted and represented well in a tv series called “Cobra Kai”, which is characterised by the following sentences: “Strike first”; “Strike hard”; “No mercy”. It is, in summary, using the attack as a mechanism of defence, offending someone else before getting offended, yelling at another for intimidation, attacking the morality and dignity of a person to trigger a response to such an attack that uses the same awful values. An unconscious mind is willing to fall into such a trap, a kind of negative psychology that justifies nothing regarding the negative response obtained. No understanding is required, as there is no excuse for any kind of negative behaviour but the observation of suffering at its best. The moment consciousness is on the table, the scene can be observed in a positive perspective. We are able to see clearly that before any strategy adopted we require understanding of the situation. With no understanding there is no effective and efficient strategy to face anything. With no consciousness we get ourselves out of the present moment, dealing with something that can be characterised as an illusion. As we can see, illusions are mind traps, and mind traps are the stages of suffering, clear as crystal. The more we embrace such kind of negative psychology, the more we fall deep down into suffering and its negative consequences to the mind and body. If we have negative feelings about something, it is always the best option to understand it first before jumping right into an unconscious action. The understanding of suffering is what makes us realise the negative sources hidden in the back stage, the illusions generated by negative emotions, the “sacrifice to the Gods” hoping for their mercy, and expecting to get something in return from such a negative offering.

Understanding is what makes us kind, compassionate, and lovely creatures. It is through the power of the mind we can develop a royal heart of a lion and the infinite energy and strength of a dragon, capable of spreading love all around no matter the circumstances.
