The most prominent secret of every martial art is self-defence. Defence against an obnoxious, unfair, and in suffering mind of another. Defence against darkness and the atrocities it is capable of executing. In a similar way, the most prominent secret of any kind of mind training is self-knowledge. Knowledge about our own weaknesses and strengths. Knowledge about our mind and body, their relation, and the use of physical and mind power for cultivating kindness and compassion, propagating love and diminishing hatred. The moment we realise those secrets, it is the moment we know the roots required to our self-improvement, which is also a strong foundation to learn from the discoveries and creations of another, incorporating the ancient knowledge at the deepest level of our own heart.

What is the secret of life? One may ask. The answer is not a direct one but something we need to think about, realising it by ourselves. There is a word that helps to clarify the terms: consciousness. What if there is no consciousness in every action we perform? What if we do not know the true purpose of what we are doing at the present moment? What if we know thousands of procedures but mistaken they have the same goal, the same roots, the same secret within their foundations. What if we are moved by non-genuine reasons? What if we are moved by genuine ones? We could now think more about what the secret of life is.

With a deep and strong connection to the universe we are dictated by its impermanence. The impermanence characterising the constant change of every matter we have knowledge about. The impermanence required to realise what we are at the present moment is not what we were in the past, implying it is also not what we will be in the future.
Sometimes we are just too unconscious to realise the beauty of impermanence, and the correlation with all the events happening in the surroundings. Sometimes we are too naive to realise there is control and dominance behind ignorance, the absence of knowledge.

Should we seek knowledge at any means required? One may ask. Let me present a situation to our own reflection. If there is someone with a condition we have no understanding about, e.g., the ability to perform a 360 degree turn on the upper body, should we ask the person to observe that condition we would like to understand? Or should we create a prison with no walls, forcing that person to remain where we want, to live by the terms we define, inside a fabricated environment with no consciousness about our true intentions?

The moment we realise the genuine purpose of seeking knowledge, it is the moment we get conscious about the meaning of true love, understanding our own perspective about the secret of life.
