When we are conscious we know exactly the path we need to follow in order to achieve peace of mind. However, we are not certain which kind of challenges we have to face, and how the environment surrounding the self would behave during such a journey. By enrolling in the journey of understanding our own suffering we expect nothing. Like Buddha, the enlightened one, we enrol into a path where the self is our most trustworthy companion. In the middle of a chaotic environment, where the meaning and sense of Sangha is distorted, taking refuge in both Dharma and Buddha jewels are our only trustful options.

If we are experiencing a moment when the sense of community is distorted, where there is no collective cultivation of our love nature, we have to be prepared to walk alone our path towards a meaningful life. There is no other option to survive into a chaotic, unfair, and untrustful environment than enhancing the self through the practise of both mind and body training. It does not mean we turn our back to anyone crossing our path, which is nothing more than experiencing suffering all along. It means we do not expect help from another, even if we are in a very delicate situation.

Sometimes if we hear we would get help from an external source, we get more relaxed and distracted in the face of current challenges. We create expectations, which a chaotic environment may induce us to create, feeding the illusion that someone would come to our aid; that a community is going to protect us. The truth is that any kind of protection we may receive from the outside starts in the ability we have to protect ourselves first. That clear thought represents two important lessons: (1) we may receive no help at all; and (2) we have to embrace our light, our true nature, to adapt without getting on our knees to darkness.

The more we realise that the two fundamental jewels of our own path are rested on both the Dharma and Buddha himself, it is the moment we understand the manifestation of a community, and the jewel derived from the possibility of taking refugee on it, is a complement of our ability to stand right in the path of a meaningful life.
