Understanding honour is understanding what a meaningful life is. The one who has honour understands it and the one who has not does not. It is a simple but fundamental value, which is the base for building trust. Living with honour does not mean making no mistakes but understanding no matter the circumstances life is always a priority, and harming others intentionally, out of a self-defence act upon an attack towards ourselves, is always a wrong move to make. There is no need for precautions with honour on the table, as we can offer our shoulder, our back, or even our whole body, with the certainty no harm would come to us while support has been offered. Like genuine love, honour is something we offer with no expectations to receive back, as the one who has honour offers it and the one who has not does not.


What is honour? One may ask. It is indeed an interesting question, which the answer is deep inside our nature of love. If we ask what honour is, it is sure we do not know what the answer is, which implies we are not conscious of whether we possess such a jewel. Thinking about honour is, firstly, thinking about the self, as we offer to others what we cultivate deep inside. We may say that honouring the self is cultivating care, love, and gratitude concerning who we are, and who we have become. It is harming no one and living by the code that says do it right, recognising the wrong as something to put aside and enhance.


I honour you, you honour me, and we are able to achieve a peaceful and joyful environment to live in altogether. An environment with no honour is an environment with room for suffering. An environment with no honour is a dark environment, full of negativity, where anger, sadness, frustration, and despair dictates the motivation and the way of life for many.


The moment we understand honour is part of the light we shine, it is the moment we realise why the one who has honour understands it and the one who has not does not.
