For each kind of meal, different kinds of ingredients and type of preparation is required. For each kind of meal a different result is expected, and a unique flavour is tasted every time we have the pleasure to do so. Some meals are wonderful for breakfast. Others for lunch. There are always the ones ready for dinner, or even the kind of meal we eat as a desert. We can learn how to prepare anything but we execute our way, with our intentions, and our perspective and relativity. If we think about mind training as we think about preparing meals for sustaining the self, we realise there are periods of time we meditate, others we observe, there are some we make reasoning about, and altogether the understanding comes like a flashlight in the middle of a dark knight: clear, strong, and resilient.

Let us think about feeding the self with love and compassion generated from the inside. The ingredients to prepare such a wonderful banquet is precious, unique, rare, something no one has access but ourselves. The moment we get conscious we are able to realise the magnitude of everything we have inside. We are able to see kindness as a natural reaction of a mind at peace, full of love for anyone that would like to see. A mind at peace is a mind with little or no fears, ready to think, able to see, prone to observe, and willing to understand.

Let us think about the experience and manifestation of negative emotions as a trigger to alert ourselves that we need to feed. The requirement is not material but the materialisation of the balance. For each negative emotion we experience, we could think about what the imbalance is. If anger is coming we may realise we need to feed the self with softness. If frustration is knocking, let us see the feed we need is a ground of calmness. If sadness is entering, let us offer an entrance of happiness. There is neither a magical or universal recipe but a wonderful and beautiful mixture we have access within.

We like to share and we love to offer, as an act of respect by the self and the others. The moment we realise we need to care about the self as a foundation of caring about others, it is the moment we understand the secret of life is something everyone searches on the outside, forgetting that everything is on the inside.
