It is not always that we need to defend the self against any negativity generated within, or approaching us from the outside. Sometimes we just need to observe, and let it be so. It does not mean we disregard what happens in the present moment. It means we understand perfection is an illusion of the mind, which is promoted by darkness to trigger what we know as frustration. Frustration is a punishment we give to the self as a result of our own suffering. The moment we observe the scene from a non-judgemental perspective, we feel frustrated no more.
We do not need to punish ourselves for anything in life, and it is a lesson we have to learn from our own experiences. Sometimes we are so focused on the outside, deep into the illusion our suffering promotes, that we forget to cultivate and nurture the love nature deep within.
Darkness feeds on the outcome of negative conditioning, and negative conditioning seeks the confinement of the conscious mind, preventing it from being vivid and active on the scene.
It is through consciousness that we understand negative emotions are nothing more than self-punishments, no matter what happens in the present moment. Frustration is one of the worst, as it may be the trigger of retraction, which is what darkness wants the most. The moment we lose our attitude of doing, it is the moment we prevent the self from making any progress.
We just feel frustrated if, and only if, we are afraid and in doubt of what we are doing. There is no problem with being afraid or in doubt of something we are doing. The problem is feeling frustrated when we receive any feedback from the outside we were not expecting to receive. The combination of expectation and frustration represents one of the promoters of suffering.
Ruling our own expectations and frustrations is the way to understand that perfection is a concept, and peace of mind is far from being the representation of that concept.
