Sometimes we urge to jump into conclusions, analysing just what is close to us. It is like observing part of a very long snake and assuming it is a piece of wood in the middle of the jungle. The decisions are made by the head, and it is from the head that comes the bite. When we see suffering as a snake, we understand that focusing on the body, i.e., on the outside, has little or no effect. The moment we aim for the head, i.e., within the self, it is the moment we suffer no more.

We have been conditioned to not look into the real source of a problem, and it represents a huge drawback into our personal evolution. When we look to the outside, trying to observe, analyse, and understand any behaviour we are subjected to, we end up with both no understanding and suffering as outcomes. The real deal is that we are trading our peace of mind by the inability to recognise where the head of the snake is.

The moment we aim for the head, looking within to the source of what causes suffering to the self, we are much more effective at drawing strategies required to, at least, understand a period of suffering being experienced. With consciousness at hand, and knowledge on the table, we can be precise. What surrounds us is a detail, which we only get to deal with the moment it enters directly our own perspective and relativity, trying to harm the self. Until that moment, it has no power without our permission, i.e., anything spoken, written, gesticulated, or even fabricated is what it is: part of a scene we are inserted into. Being aware of it is extremely important on the duty of dealing with darkness.

We have not to be afraid if we are not ready to recognise the presence of a snake, i.e. a period of suffering, and deal with it accordingly. If we understand the snake, being able to deal with it in a conscious way, such a snake becomes our protector for the moments anything on the outside attempts to enter our own perspective and relativity to harm us.

The moment we realise who is responsible for our own suffering, it is the moment we understand that we are more powerful than we can ever imagine.
