Buddha, the enlightened one, says that accepting the gift of suffering is establishing the ownership of it to the self, while rejecting it is letting such a gift where it initially belongs to. As a consequence of that, the moment we manifest any negativity towards the self or another, sometimes in a harmful way, it is the moment negativity enters deep within, corrupting and deteriorating not what we desire to but what we have no intention to get damaged.

It is easy to see that when our intentions are not genuine, anything we do is only part of an illusion associated with a period of suffering we are experiencing. We may think that what we are doing is right, and we may support it by the fact that such corruption is common sense in the vicinity we are part of. That is how a belief emerges, and the famous absolute truth begins to be disseminated, in order to control the way the majority behaves in a given situation. It happens with anything, and it may be passed through generations, from father to son and so on, being a family secret that a mind in suffering may think the only option is accepting it with little or no understanding, or perishing while facing believers of the riddle.

When we step into the land of understanding, it does not mean we would establish perfection in everything we do. As we already know, perfection is an illusion promoted by darkness to cause frustration if such a utopian state is not achieved. Being supported by understanding means we would analyse the situation based on the evidence we have at hand to perform a decision, and such a decision may be reverted when we find another evidence invalidating the one we have utilised previously. That is how impermanence works, and that is why our universe is dictated by an impermanent state of understanding.

Sometimes we are so deep into an illusion, blindly following the negative conditioning we are subjected to, which we put aside the most natural thing we are capable of cultivating, nurturing, generating, and manifesting from the inside out: love.

Next time let us try to understand our own suffering, exercising a conscious and non-judgemental attitude towards the self and another. As a consequence, if it is love we are putting into the gift we carry on, it is love we are cultivating deep within.
