We are not able to change what is on the outside, the environment, the behaviours, the persons who we have contact with. By using our consciousness we are able to observe, analyse, and understand that liberating the self from suffering is a personal duty, and no matter how helpful we would like to be, we are powerless against the inability of a person to step out of it. Thus, we have to perform our mind and body training to be prepared to deal with the consequences of suffering, generated within the self and on the outside. The more we get aware about that, the more we get prepared to face what cannot be faced out of consciousness.
When we start to realise what a period of suffering brings to the self, recognising the ecosystem generated as a result of the illusions we are inserted into, we start to understand how deep such a hole could be, and how hard is the work we have to do with our personal training, in order to achieve higher levels of peace of mind no matter the circumstances. In the case of suffering, circumstances are bizantine, random, masked, and always happening with little or no knowledge of the conscious mind. Suffering is the result of actions that we are not able to deal with properly, the moment we get aware of their presence. Such actions may happen behind our backs, leading to the understanding about the meaning of "no expectation", which is one of the most wonderful pieces of knowledge we could extract from the Buddha's teachings.
Buddha, the enlightened one, indicates in his teachings that adaptation is a key factor for observing, analysing, and understanding suffering, being the most difficult characteristic to be learned by ourselves, as we have to be totally sure to differentiate embracing suffering from adapting the self to step out of it, as a movement of personal evolution.
The moment we realise how we could adapt the self to enhance peace of mind within our own perspective and relativity, it is the moment we understand what are the consequences we have to deal with when caring about life, and nurturing the love nature we have inside, are values we carry while walking the path towards a meaningful life.
