From the beauty of nature, and its intrinsic characteristics shaped by the impermanence of the universe, we can extract wonderful knowledge representing difficulties we may face in life. Those difficulties characterise the act of letting higher intelligence out of the equation on the task of understanding our own suffering. Illusions are fabricated, beliefs established, implying negative conditioning of the self regarding what happens in the surroundings, all out of understanding. Thus, isolation becomes a consequence of suffering rather than a choice of consciousness. The moment we realise the importance to remain with consciousness at hand even during a period of suffering, it is the moment we understand our mind has the power to be the watchdog of our own existence.
Using our mind to make decisions is something we perform every single moment of our existence, and it is by taking such decisions that we enrol in the conscious path of our life. When the unconscious mind gets on the driver's seat, we lose the capability of making decisions on our own, putting our consciousness aside to follow external stimuli in a conditioned act, with little or no knowledge about what is really happening. From the instant that consciousness gets back on the commander's position, strange sensations may rise within the self, indicating the influence of negative conditioning on the experienced scene. Lack of understanding is a consequence of the performed acts, where the conscious mind is not able to find a reasonable, and explainable justification for. Blaming the self is, then, the easy way to relieve the sensation of being a slave of our own suffering.
It is by observing nature that we can see the powerful source of energy we have contact with, which reminds us how important it is to use our consciousness when facing something that is [sometimes] beyond our comprehension. Acquisition of knowledge is a fundamental step. Training body and mind becomes a required set, while ruling our own mind an important asset for the understanding and cessation of our own suffering during the course of a difficult journey.
Higher intelligence characterises the privileged information we have at hand, which can be whether useful for the present moment. However, higher intelligence is orthogonal from wisdom, a skill that cannot be shared or acquired out of understanding. Wisdom is the key to wisely using information provided by higher intelligence, and as we know, that is a result of achieving peace of mind.
The moment we use our wisdom to realise the key role of our own suffering in our life path, it is the moment we understand how ancient knowledge has been observed, acquired, analysed, understood, and disseminated through generations.
