At the distance of a hand we have easy access to the outside world information. A technology we have developed to reduce the problem of contact and collaboration among distinct geographic locations, and their associated people. A technology we have developed to connect; to close distance and to improve our lives. A technology we have to learn how to disconnect and pay little or no attention to digital waves of negativity.

In the ancient times there are no smartphones. The communication was performed face-to-face or by the exchange of written communication; the exchange of letters, which could carry a variety of information: from lovely words to bad news. Our ancestors have had no opportunity to experience the connected world we experience right now. The access to knowledge was much more limited, as well as the exposition to global negativity, global tragedy, and global social harassment. It seems we have much to learn to prevent the psychology of terror, and to spread the psychology of love in our digital era.

We have to learn how to disconnect from digital negativity. We have to learn how to adapt our mind training to mitigate digital darkness. We have to learn how to use the available technology to favour the dissemination of love and compassion instead of hate and discrimination. It does not mean we have to throw our smartphone off or keep it in an inactive state. It means we have to filter which kind of information we pay attention to. It means we have to choose which kind of energy we want to connect and to disseminate. It means we have to decide the kind of persons and citizens we want to become.

Vengeance, retaliation, and revenge are concepts associated with negativity and the results expected by digital darkness. They are the result of torture and the attempt to make justice through wrong and awful actions. They are the result expected to be manifested by targets of obnoxious people. They are the results we can prevent by the use of our conscious mind and the awareness of what comes from the outside.

We may continue to spread the psychology of terror and to practise and pay more attention to negativity. Or we can tap into the psychology of love to attenuate the negativity and to spread lovely and kind words to everyone around.

What is the kind of world we want to live? It is a question the answer we have the power to decide.
