We can decide what we would like to do with our life in a similar way we can decide what we drink in a moment of rest. A warm cup of tea or coffee to boost the day, or even something else of our choice. We decide it as long as we are conscious of what we are doing. There is no need to be afraid of the outside, or about what others are thinking. We are not in ancient societies anymore. We have common laws establishing the end of slavery and the associated rights to perform discriminatory acts against people. However, as conscious beings, we are aware and awake to the problem of hidden discrimination, and how it is related to the old values of slavery present in ancient societies. The more we are conscious of identifying traces of behaviours related to slavery, the better we can deal with them in a conscious and meaningful way.
Behaviours associated with slavery are still among us. However, they are not explicit, as it is against the common laws to practise anything resembling slavery. Hidden discrimination has got a make up in something else, using elaborated strategies to segregate society in different groups, where access to education, healthcare, home, and all public infrastructure allowing us to live a life in society is controlled, limited, and sometimes, restricted to few.
Putting such implicit segregation aside requires consciousness at hand, and a high level of peace of mind. We have to deal every single day with hatred culture, hate speech, and violent actions derived from such awful and conditioned behaviours. Most of us are not conscious about it, and how we have to change our behaviour just to be not a potential target to criminals in a given environment. However, we have to be aware and certain that some criminals are more intelligent, and unfortunately, they choose their victims carefully. It is not random, and we are not sure yet what the criteria of choice are, how organised they are, and whether they deceive their peers along the process.
Becoming heroes of our own existence is understanding the presence of hidden discrimination and facing it consciously and meaningfully, not embracing those promoted values related to hatred culture. The moment we realise how to recognise those behaviours to deal with them properly, it is the moment we understand the origins of them.
