On the road of life we often ask ourselves: Am I in the right path? Am I in the right direction? Have I made the right decision to go this way? The answers to all of those questions do not matter anymore if we put ourselves on the past.

When we are thinking about the past, we are on the hope we could go back to evaluate a decision; to check if it was the right thing to do, based on the knowledge we have in the present moment. We just can't. Past is in the past, and it cannot be rewritten, at least not until we find a way to perform time travel.

Past events are, at most, life lessons. We have to be conscious to get all the subliminal messages a past event has to teach us. Thus, we may use those lessons to react in a different way on the face of a similar situation on the present moment.

Live the here and the now, the present moment. Embrace the impermanence of life; embrace your impermanence. We are in constant change, and we are capable to reinvent ourselves everyday we wake up. Everyday is a different day, and everyday we face different challenges.

Each instant of time is unique; we are unique. We have no need to be worried about what we cannot control. It is hard work, a daily exercise, but it is what save us from suffering.

In life we have three types of persons, which will cross our path on the road: a loved one, an enemy, and a traveler.

A loved one is close to us. We protect and are protected; we trust and we are trusted; we love and we are loved. We learn the best side of life, the best side love and compassion have to offer to us.

As his holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, is used to say: our enemy is our best teacher. We have to learn his/her tactics, we sometimes have to fall into his/her deceptions to experience the bad and the ugly side of life. By learning his/her tactics well, we are able to overcome them; to develop our positive inner values, our love and compassion attitudes; our consciousness.

The last one, a traveler, is a neutral figure at first. Such figure may come in and out of our path, out of a sudden. He/she can teach us to embrace the impermanence of life, the capacity we have to reinvent ourselves. By watching his/her actions, and by learning his/her values, a traveler may transform himself/herself into a loved one or an enemy.

Be conscious. Don't fall into a trap that says you have no choice. We always have a choice, and we take the responsibility to make it. Noone can choose on our behalf.

Be brave. Sometimes we must walk alone for awhile. We must face darkness with no backup, no extraction team or plan. We may go back to an already known location to realise what we knew about that location has no validity anymore. At that moment, instead of panic, which offers no help, embrace impermanence.

Believe in yourself. The world is a big and beautiful place. Love is everywhere, and somewhere it resonates to us.

Don't give up and be still.
