The moment we start facing darkness in a conscious and meaningful way, it is the moment we understand that the negative conditioning we are subjected to escalates in the attempt to make us step into a period of suffering. Looking back in history makes us understand that such a behaviour can be related to the period of slavery, and the behaviour of the Nazi regime when removing Jewish people from the city centre. It’s then crystal clear that the foundation of darkness has its origins in discrimination, where the goal is creating slaves that follow the imposed negative conditioning with no questions asked, in a similar way the Nazi regime has ruled Nazi Germany. If we call it Māra, the evil entity that Buddha—the enlightened one—has faced while walking his path towards enlightenment, the only way to deal with darkness is keeping consciousness at hand, and stepping into our personal evolution.

It’s time to see clearly what happens in the present moment to become better prepared to deal with obnoxious situations in the environment we are inserted into. Behind the obnoxious behaviours we have contact with, which we need to deal with as kind and compassionate as possible for the moment, there is always a negative intention derived from the period of suffering associated with the observed scene. We need to perform our body and mind training to prevent the self from embracing that negative conditioning.

The unlimited power to cultivate and nurture the beautiful light deep within is ours to tap into. We just need to keep consciousness at hand, understanding that darkness is the absence of light in the present moment. When we understand that concept, we acquire and understand the priceless piece of knowledge that says: There is no darkness before light.
