It is based on knowledge that we can recognise the truths and lies we are subjected to in the present moment, which sometimes are disseminated freely to the masses. From our own perspective and relativity there is nothing we can do to stop such dissemination. However, we can search for knowledge to seek the proper understanding required to prevent believing in a lie and disregarding the truth. The moment we realise the illusions we are subjected to, it is the moment we understand that relying on the self is the only way to achieve peace of mind, no matter the circumstances.

Sometimes we receive a burst of information related to a given subject like a belief that must be incorporated with no questions asked. In those moments keeping consciousness at hand is essential, as well as asking the right questions to seek proper answers for truths, and absence or wrong answers for lies. The main questions we can use in our favour are "why?", "how?", "when?", "where?", and "what?". Asking "why?" is important to know the origins of a given subject, and how the knowledge related to the subject has been disseminated and modified through the passage of time.

For example, do you know the origin of a mental illness named schizophrenia? Do you know who was the first person ever diagnosed with such a mental illness? Do you know a lot of researchers are disseminating that schizophrenia is a brain disease, but at the same time, there is no brain scan ever that provides clear evidence capable of identifying its presence in the brain? To help acquire more knowledge related to those questions, I suggest you search about the following persons: Emil Kraepelin, Paul Eugen Bleuler, Thomas Szasz, Lawrence Stevens, Theodore R. Sarbin, James C. Mancuso, and Jeffrey Masson, just to cite a few. The moment we acquire more knowledge about a given subject we can clearly separate truths from lies with no need to step into a period of suffering.

Buddha, the enlightened one, has provided a wonderful teaching that says there is neither absolute truth nor absolute lie but the understanding that what is aligned with our love nature represents a path to the truth, and what is not a step into a period of suffering.
