Keeping consciousness at hand is understanding we cannot accept anything imposed to us without clear and proper explanation. We need to fully understand what we’re facing and dealing with, using the best strategy we’ve at hand to deal with the situation, even if such strategy requires to get our hands dirty by fixing a problem that isn’t ours but it’s preventing us from making progress. Being ready to lead and put our hands on what needs to be done and no one has the courage to do is our personal duty, implying no fear to make things work as best as it can work for the situation we’re experiencing. In the momentum that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is getting more and more vivid into our lives, considering also that we’ve still a lot of ground to cover in terms of automation, which includes guaranteeing the deterministic execution of solutions applied to environments where safety is far more important than speed, we need to sharpen our skills in order to do the right thing instead of just enrolling into something like a herd of white elephants. The more conscious we’re of what we’re doing or ready to do if required to, the more prepared and skilled we need to be in order to face and deal with the unknown.

The big deal of dealing with the presence of darkness in the surroundings while keeping up with the AI boom is ensuring to follow no herd of white elephants, which is an observed effect of applying solutions without clearly understanding the implications they’ve to the long run. It’s extremely important that we acquire as much knowledge as we can to make our lives easier while learning new ways of automating the amount of work we need to perform, implying no deterioration of our intrinsic abilities and learned capabilities.

Knowing how to use AI for boosting and enhancing our human factor is, for sure, the big challenge we’ve at hand in the present moment. We need to walk towards that path, eventually. The moment we realise that, it’s the moment we understand how to take full advantage of AI and the advances it has potential to bring but are still far from being fully available and mastered.
