There’s a sense of awareness we need to learn how to use in our favour, understanding the principles of observing the presence of darkness in the surroundings without getting conditioned by the negativity we’re subjected to in the environment we’re inserted into. The importance of training and enhancing our perception are the key factors to start realising the main goal of someone who uses a mask for attempting to cause harm either towards us, or any other unconscious and innocent people. Direct confrontation is never the tactic of dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive doctrines. Those minds in suffering prefer to trigger an inversion of control by performing an indirect attack to the body in order to strike a direct blow to the mind for diminishing, or even vanishing, its resilience. Performing our body and mind training, and acquiring knowledge to defend ourselves—by either learning a specific martial art or creating our own style and techniques like old masters have done in ancient times—are the foundation of walking the path towards a meaningful life. The most important part isn’t learning how to use a given technique but being certain we just need to use it if, and only if. extremely needed to defend life, which implies the requirement of learning how to apply defensive manoeuvres against any mind in suffering attempting to trespass our private and personal space with no previous invitation. The more we realise that, the better we understand the real purpose of facing the presence of darkness in the surroundings.

There’s no secret but the awareness of using our intrinsic ability to consciously surpass our own limits. If we observe dishonour, dishonesty, and deceptive behaviours in the surroundings, and there’s no way of either getting away from them or vanish that huge amount of negativity, we need to find a way of starting to create and develop our own techniques for solving a problem others have a different observation and understanding of. The example of Buddha, the enlightened one, represents the foundation of such a priceless piece of knowledge.

When the last Buddha, the prince Siddharta Gautama, decided to enrol into the path for seeking enlightenment he wasn’t the person with a huge understanding of what a meaningful life represents, and how someone could acquire priceless pieces of knowledge about suffering. As a consequence of such lack of prior knowledge he had enrolled into different ancient traditions created by old masters to understand the meaning of suffering. At some point in time, and for reasons we could never know and learn the real truth of, he has decided to create his own strategies and techniques for observing, analysing, and understanding suffering, which the journey led him to attain enlightenment.

If we think carefully about the Buddha’s journey we start understanding the real problem wasn’t actually in the distinguished and ancient traditions to attain the complete understanding of suffering but something in the way those traditions were practised, making it hard for Buddha, the enlightened one, to adapt and attain enlightenment. As I have said, we could never know the real reasons that lead Buddha, the enlightened one, to abandon the practice of ancient traditions for understanding suffering, as there are no clear registers with Buddha’s explanations concerning such decisions. The only thing we know is that prince Siddharta Gautama, the last Buddha, developed new ways of observing, analysing, and understanding suffering, making sure to transmit a clear message saying his words could never be accepted as absolute truths. It was probably the deepest understanding he attained after enlightenment.

If by any change or circumstance we cannot practice what we would like to, or even we find ourselves not adapted to a given imposition we’re subjected to, there’s always the possibility of keeping consciousness at hand and developing our own strategies for dealing with the unknown, or any negativity we’ve contact with in the environment we’re inserted into. The more we realise that, the better we understand the unlimited power we have deep within.
