The more difficulties we experience in life, the more we get prepared to enhance the self, and boost the strength hidden within our love nature. By using our consciousness we are able to dismiss periods of suffering, being focused on the benefits we can get from the challenge we are facing. It is from caring about life, and enhancing the self through the knowledge we acquire by our life experiences that we start our singular seed to flourish kindness and compassion, and therefore the light for the heart of disseminating our own intelligence, which is in the standing position of understanding suffering, instead of embracing it. Our intelligence of love is the one that considers, as his holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama says, human beings as the same, no matter the nationality, colour, religion, or any classification we may apply.
Suffering is present in our daily life, and it is easy and vivid to observe in scenarios of tragedy such as wars, disasters, pandemic periods, and so on. It is almost easy to point a finger into a scenario where things happening are against our love nature, and therefore in the direction of chaos and suffering all around. What is hard is looking deep into the self to ask the tough questions: What am I doing to distance myself, and the behaviour I am enrolling in the present moment, from those scenarios? Am I part of a community using the gift of life as the source of light, or is life something disposable, and therefore we recognise and understand we are in the middle of a chaotic environment?
By getting the answers of such tough questions we are able to realise some required stages for our body and mind training, which have the clear goal of keeping the strength and integrity of our body and mind, no matter the circumstances. Body strength and integrity have the meaning of boosting our immune system to face anything we have contact with, such as COVID-19. In the case of the mind, the strength and integrity are rested on the capability we have of achieving higher levels of peace of mind, keeping our love nature even when we step into a period of suffering.
Buddha, the enlightened one, has enrolled into a journey to understand suffering, and during such a journey he has faced a lot of challenges, which the experience and knowledge acquired have shaped his ability to become enlightened.
Difficulties may be part of the present moment, and we may have no choice to put them aside. However, suffering is something we have total control about, and we may use our consciousness to choose we are not embracing it. Every time we succeed to achieve such a goal, it is a time we step towards a higher level of peace of mind.
