By observing nature and having contact with different phenomena it manifests, we can get a better awareness about what impermanence is, and how understanding its modus operandi can be astonishing in the training sessions to achieve peace of mind. We get a better sense of change, continuation, break, appearance, disappearance, light, and darkness. We realise a tree does not manifest itself complete and tall on the first day. A tree, actually, faces the challenges presented by the environment to become stronger, adapting to the conditions imposed as best as it can. By looking around a little bit more we can understand why adaptation is the key factor of evolution, and why evolution is changing the present to enlighten a brighter future.
We have to rule our mind to not get frustrated if things are not going as we have expected, or planned. There are so many variables involved in the process of living a life that, even if we could enrol in the task of accounting every single variable on our path, we probably would miss something in-between. Sometimes what we observe is the manipulative work behind the scenes of so many actors we have no clear knowledge about, that our mind training has to be focused on dealing with the results we can be aware of. Dealing with the sensations within our own body is a proof of that.
While we observe pain, discomfort, distress, relaxation, or any other sensation we can think about, there are tiny reactions happening deep into our cells, producing, consuming, building, and destroying things required to manifest the sensation we feel. The trigger of some sensations sometimes is unknown and beyond human comprehension, and training our mind and body is what puts the self into the ruler position, controlling mind and body to master the unlimited power of the living universe we have within.
Buddha, the enlightened one, was the master of observing the self, nature, and how his suffering was related to everything he was experiencing. Buddha has extracted wonderful knowledge from suffering, which nature represents as the rising of a lotus flower from the mud. We just need to observe ourselves to understand we have no match on the outside, as all the motivation and power we need to achieve peace of mind are within.
