Let’s imagine that I become recognised as a bastard prince from the United Kingdom, and therefore, through such a genealogical inheritance, people start paying more attention to everything I do, speak, and write. Although I’ve no evidence of being a bastard (:-D), that isn’t important for the context. The important point here is that modern society has a conditioned tendency of paying more attention to the position and influence of a given person rather than the knowledge and message they’re transmitting. The evidence is all over the World Wide Web (WWW). Using that argument as a foundation, would the last Buddha, the enlightened one, recognised as so if he was a slave? Let’s remember the last Buddha, Siddartha Gautama, was a royal prince from the Shakya clan, which occupied the geographic region where Nepal is today. The answer is: we can never know. What we know is that in Buddha’s teachings, we’re equals, and we’re the same. Thus, knowledge is the foundation that drives the path towards a meaningful life instead of any position or influence we may have in modern society. The moment we realise that, it’s the moment we understand every single sentient being is a priceless source of knowledge we can learn something from; we just need to be conscious to do that.

Knowledge is the shield we need to acquire, modify, enhance, and customise in order to protect ourselves from dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive people we’ve contact with during our life journey. It’s through knowledge acquisition that we can genuinely observe, analyse, and understand what happens in the present moment. As a consequence of such knowledge acquisition, we’ve the opportunity to keep consciousness at hand while performing our body and mind training to step into higher stages of our personal evolution.

In this month dedicated to the prevention of suicide, it’s extremely important that we establish a strong and resilient posture to shine our beautiful light from the inside out while offering a strong support for the ones who’re experiencing deep periods of suffering to the point they think to end their own lives. Living is a priceless gift, and no matter the circumstances, we need to show any human being who may lose their faith in the importance of being alive that experiencing life is still the right choice to make.

Let’s be brave and keep acquiring as much knowledge as we can. The more knowledge we acquire, the better prepared we’re to face and deal with the unknown, and mainly facing and dealing with dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive people who believe the illusory power of money is more important than life itself.
