When Buddha, the enlightened one, has left the palace to enrol into his journey towards acquiring more knowledge of suffering, and therefore towards enlightenment, he made his choice on his own, knowing exactly the consequences of his decision to the lifestyle he would be experiencing later on. When we’re facing dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive people, we need to keep consciousness at hand to realise and understand that our well-being is the crucial foundation we cannot let anyone corrupt, which implies that we need to be prepared to jump out from the illusions we may be living deep within, in a similar way that Buddha, the enlightened one, has done when he decided to leave the palace and the contact and comfort of its associated luxury. If we aren’t prepared to perform that choice, consciously and meaningfully, those dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive people would attempt to make a person they consider an inferior being as their guinea pig, which in the long run will be much worse as it’ll threaten what we know as the foundations of life itself. The example of World War II, and the Nazi ideology, represent a clear outcome of what can happen when a minority decides to brainwash through conditioning a majority and making them believe harming innocent people they consider inferior is the right way of living.
Everything we consciously experience and live is a personal choice. In order to keep choosing, we need to keep consciousness at hand, no matter the circumstances. The duty of keeping living through our own decisions is a choice we need to be able to perform every single day of our own existence. Let us keep standing strong and tall while walking the path towards a meaningful life.
