When we start analysing anything in life from our own perspective and relativity, seeking the understanding of a given environment, scenario, or situation before us, one astonishing and well-known strategy that can be used as an asset at hand is breaking that bigger and intractable view into small pieces, which we can start reassembling to understand properly what we’ve experienced and what we may still experiencing in the present moment. Such a strategy of reasoning and thinking—which is widely used for solving problems—is dubbed divide-to-conquer. It reminds us of the image of a puzzle yet a dynamic one. Instead of having a hard-wired, single way of assembling, each one of us may find a truthful and meaningful way of doing that; a way that is better aligned with our own path, which may reveal secrets no one else was able to realise or understand properly before. Buddha, the enlightened one, was able to attain his own understanding of suffering after realising and understanding the teachings he received from different practices, methods, methodologies, and disciplines he had enrolled were not enough for him. Something was missing, and as a consequence, he started his own path, which he had called the middle-way path towards enlightenment. One of his fundamental teachings of the approach he had established is that anyone has the right either to accept or to reject his teachings, which can only be consciously done if we attain the proper understanding of why we’re either accepting or rejecting them. Thus, instead of a belief-based system, a knowledge-based one emerged.
Sometimes we’ve no access to the big picture from our own perspective and relativity. It may make our path more challenging and difficult. However, at some point of that development we may logically change the perspective we were once using to look at a given situation, implying on an insight that enables us to figure out that aforementioned big picture we can now use as a compass to guide our further progress. Understanding comes with the progress we make in being able to clearly explain both the big picture and how the approach we’re using works in order to get that big picture properly assembled from the pieces of the puzzle we’ve already understood. It’s a matter of using our consciousness and reasoning abilities to step into higher stages of our personal evolution, attaining higher levels of peace of mind as a result of our own understanding.
Let’s keep walking the path towards a meaningful life, using our consciousness to recognise and segregate the illusions we’ve contact with from the reality we’re able to experience from our own perspective and relativity.
