There’s nothing special about being certain of the path we would like to pursue during our life journey. It’s a choice we need to make, and it’s related with the values we would like to keep deep within, even if the environment we’re inserted into promotes the opposite. The Buddha’s journey towards enlightenment teaches us a lot about renunciation, acceptance, observation, understanding, and confidence of knowing what we need to do about our own destiny. Let’s imagine if the last Buddha, Siddartha Gautama, accepted with no doubts and no questions asked the teachings of many doctrines he had experienced before deciding to walk his own middle path. We would never be able to know the true outcome if he had enrolled into a different path but we may imagine that Buddhism and his wonderful teachings could never be formulated by the time it had been formulated and emerged. Personally, one of the most iconic teachings for me is accepting nothing with no understanding, which implies that we may do things with no full understanding of in the present moment but we should never let ourselves be conditioned by anything we’ve no clear understanding of during the long run. If we get conditioned, the result will always create the feeling that something is missing, implying doubt, despair, and suffering instead of peace of mind emerging from deep within, no matter the circumstances experienced and the tough decisions we need to make in the present moment.

Understanding the path we’re walking towards is the first step to increase our intrinsic ability of attaining higher levels of peace of mind during our life journey, no matter the actions we need to take and the decisions we need to make to keep ourselves free from any negativity we’ve contact with in the environment we’re inserted into. If we’ve no strength to face what needs to be faced, it means that we need to perform our body and mind training until such a strength is acquired. If we’ve no knowledge to deal with a given situation before us, we need to acquire as much knowledge as we can until we can deal with the situation properly, and with no hesitation about the outcome that may result from the sequence of our own actions performed. It’s all about never letting another decide our own destiny, no matter both the scenario and the situation. If we’re the heirs to the throne of our own mind, there’s no one who has the power to remove us from seating on that throne, eventually. And if it implies having to face obnoxious and disgusting adversaries and situations during our lifetime, the peace of mind emerges from the genuine decisions we make, which are enough to comfort our mind and heart concerning the actions, decisions, and outcomes we need to experience during our life journey.

Each one has the power to decide what to do with their own life, and such a fundamental teaching will never change and be always vivid and present to a conscious mind.
