It’s extremely important that we learn how to deal with uncertainty in everything we do in life, enabling us to quickly adapt in the face of unexpected and unpredictable situations. We need to be flexible without losing our ability to plan and define the course of actions we would pursue when a given scenario configuration takes place. The more prepared we’re, the easier it’s to embrace changes without breaking our essence or getting out of the path and goals we would like both to pursue and attain in the present moment.
Sometimes we may think uncertainty means no-planning, which is a completely distorted and wrong idea of what life really is and represents. Uncertainty is at the core of the impermanence of the universe, which says that we cannot be certain that a given situation will happen in the near future, as well as we cannot say it wouldn’t happen either. Thus, if we need to constitute a more stable foundation to support what we do in our daily activities, we need to learn how to plan and how to adapt our plan if something changes and requires us to do so.
Changing doesn’t mean improvising. It means doing something different than what has been expected, which may be planned all along as well. It’s always a matter of how good we’re doing something in the face of environmental conditions and a given set of events presenting themselves to us with little or no ability of being antecipated.
The more we embrace uncertainty, the better we can draw suitable strategies to be flexible and adaptable to deal with anything life presents to us, no matter the circumstances.
