It’s extremely important that we learn how to see, identify, and play with anything life presents to us, mainly things part of our daily routine that we cannot avoid the contact with. Not dealing with unpleasant situations is a good strategy when the priorities of the work we need to perform is in our favour, and we get lucky that deception isn’t part of anything we must handle in the mix of our workload. Thus, it’s best to make a plan yet letting room for anything we cannot make a feasible prediction of. The more flexibility we’re for changing without corrupting our deep essence, the easier it gets to find a suitable strategy where fear of the outcome we get is no more, no matter the circumstances or the combination of the different variables involved.
When we think about fairness, we automatically think about a decision-making process where criteria to perform a decision must be applied. Deciding something may leverage the following questions: Am I right? or am I wrong? In order to answer that, we can ask a few extra questions to check whether our decision is right or wrong. Such extra questions are: (1) Am I harming lives intentionally and get benefited from that? (2) Could my actions be avoided by taking an alternative path that implies both no harm to the self and to others? and (3) Am I violating the fundamental human rights of others with my decisions and getting benefited from that violation? If our answer is: (1) NO; (2) YES; and (3) NO; we’re good to go. If our answer is: (1) NO; (2) NO; and (3) NO; we need to be careful of what we do, and make sure we act only in self-defence when in a situation that we get harmed by others. However, if we answer “YES” for either (1) or (3), we’re wrong. Making a decision that harms lives, implying someone getting fired just because that person excels in what they do, or performing discriminatory actions against a minority, imply having no justification, no matter the circumstances.
Let’s be brave and keep consciousness at hand, making sure we aren’t harming innocent lives, or letting innocent people get harmed by decisions or behaviours we’ve contact with and observe in the environment we’re inserted into.
