There’s a need to attain a clear understanding of how to keep the self in the present moment, and what the contribution of such an understanding is for the duty of stepping into higher stages of our personal evolution. It’s crystal clear when we’re in the middle of an unfavourable situation, where we need to deal with dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive people, it’s the moment we need to keep consciousness at hand the most. We need to be able to evaluate all suitable possibilities we’ve before us, understanding we’ve no control on the outside, although we’ve all the power at hand to find an adaptive path that’s both beneficial to our personal evolution, and offering the capability to properly deal with the deteriorative power of what we’ve facing in the present moment.
What does it mean to use intelligence in our favour? When we get before such a question we may get into the philosophical dilemma concerning the definition of intelligence itself. We can simplify such a definition to say that intelligence is the capability of accessing privileged information that makes us acquire priceless pieces of knowledge that help making decisions in the present moment. Therefore, when applying such a definition to the self, the more intelligent we’re, the more we become capable of accessing information, acquiring knowledge, and making decisions. On the other hand, when applying to the outside, such a capability may involve more than one person, implying a collective effort to access privileged information, acquiring knowledge, and making decisions. Thus, using intelligence in our favour means both using inner and outer intelligence to our own benefit, meaning that when we keep the self in the present moment, we’re better equipped to observe, analyse, and understand the situation we’re part of.
It’s a matter of awareness and personal experience using decisions we observe on the outside as priceless pieces of knowledge we can use to understand the distinguished paths and course of actions we may take, regarding how dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive the environment we’re inserted into is. In summary, we need to learn how to observe and use every tiny piece of information we’ve access to in our favour. The sooner we realise that, the better we can understand that cats become lazy animals if we compare their instinctive speed with our intrinsic ability of understanding what happens in the present moment. Thus, if we find a way to combine our instinct with our intelligence, we surpass our limits to step into higher stages of our personal evolution.
