The genuine and true purpose of performing our body and mind training is stepping into our personal evolution in a way that we can deal with anything on the outside, without letting our negative feelings influence our decisions. The most difficult part is indeed dealing with dishonour, dishonesty, and deception. It’s hard to clearly observe a situation where we have contact with dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive people, who’re offering help and support at the same time they’re stabbing us with a knife behind our back, smiling and pretending nothing is happening while exhibiting such double-cross behaviour. If we observe such a scene from an external perspective, the first negative feeling that emerges is anger. We learn and understand that such dishonoured behaviour is wrong, and how could it be possible that we’ve contact with someone doing exactly what we all know is wrong? A period of suffering emerges when we try to explain and understand from an external perspective that a troubled mind is having fun causing harm to another. Thus, the moment we realise that, it’s the moment we understand how important it’s to perform our body and mind training, being focused on our personal evolution.
The desire we experience while having contact with dishonoured, dishonest, and deceptive people is making sure they’ll not get unpunished by the crimes they’re committing. But, at the same time, from the perspective of someone who’s receiving a stab directly on the back, that feeling of justice that matches the observation from an external perspective gets confronted by a simple yet fundamental question: How could we prove the same people who offer help are stabbing us on our back? That is the toughest question we ever have to ask ourselves.
At one hand it should be simple just deciding to walk away to prevent being stabbed in the first place. On the other hand, otherwise, it solves no problem if we just walk away without being sure we need to start becoming stronger, as we may still find other people in another location behaving in the same deceptive way. Thus, Buddha, the enlightened one, has illuminated the solution by teaching us we need to be focused on self-enhancement.
If someone is stabbing us with a knife on our back, we need to be strong enough to make the knife break when touching our body, transforming our skin into a natural diamond-like shield. If someone attempts to use public confrontation or deception to make us mad, we need to establish a resilient mind, peaceful enough to understand if we get disturbed is that because we still have more stages to climb and step into when talking about the infinite journey of our personal evolution.
When we establish such a mindset, one day we’ll get so strong that neither person nor situation will be capable of causing any disturbance towards us, as our body will be as strong as a diamond, and our mind as resilient and flexible as a strap of steel, securing the highest level of peace of mind we’ve attained while keeping our body as hard and strong as it can be for the moment.
