It’s important we acquire as much knowledge as we can, being able to properly understand every single aspect of life, which includes the understanding of our own periods of suffering. In order to prevent being deceived by illusions we’ve contact with in the environment we’re inserted into, we need to learn as much as we can about everything, e.g., from how to cook a meal to how to properly swim. The moment we realise that most of the time we get deceived—without noticing it—by the lack of knowledge regarding a given subject, it’s the moment we understand the need to adopt a posture that expects nothing from anyone, including honour, respect, and honesty.
When we start learning how to adopt a posture that expects nothing from anyone, we put down a heavy weight we were carrying on our shoulders. Such a weight prevents us from properly stepping into our personal evolution and attaining higher levels of peace of mind to face the presence of darkness in the surroundings, posing challenges and difficulties to fulfil the duty of dealing with the negative conditioning we’re subjected to in the environment we’re inserted into.
Adopting a no-expectation posture doesn’t mean lacking the intrinsic ability to trust people. On the contrary, it means we’re able to establish strong bonds of trust based on conscious and meaningful connections. As a consequence, the misconduct of the other party involved doesn’t cause a deep period of suffering, frustration, anger, or a mix of negative feelings with the power to deteriorate the self. No negativity lasts long. We may feel disappointed yet such disappointment gets rapidly converted into knowledge we can use to enhance the self and step into our personal evolution.
The moment we realise the power to press the switch to awaken and become aware of what happens in the present moment is deep within, it’s the moment we understand the importance of keeping consciousness at hand no matter the circumstances.
