In the current society we live in, it is important that we acquire the knowledge, and be aware of what we deal with, when we face darkness in the present moment. In ancient times, common laws were few or inexistent, implying the use of the rule of the stronger, or even the rule of who was a better swordsman. Currently, in 2023, things are not so different. We have common laws but it seems that they are nonexistent when facing darkness. Therefore, we have to be clear to know that when facing darkness we are actually facing obnoxious situations that together—in a connected and comprehensive timeline—configures crimes against humanity, in a similar manner we have already observed in World War II when the Nazi regime had prosecuted Jewish people, imposing to the population the removal of them from the cities centres. The more we are aware of it, the better we understand how to prepare the body and mind to deal with what is behind the scenes, attaining higher levels of peace of mind no matter the circumstances.
Putting in practice Buddha's teachings requires the consciousness and capability to adapt, not only ourselves but the teaching to the scenario we are part of. Such adaptation involves the clear understanding we have to face darkness, i.e., we have to deal with obnoxious situations associated with crimes against humanity. Depending on the scene we are part of, such crimes are more explicit, e.g., the war between Russia and Ukraine, or implicit when we talk about situations of (hidden) racism and (hidden) discrimination of any type.
While in wars chaos is generated through mass destruction, in racism and discrimination, the component that gets enforced is the negative conditioning through (hidden) social exclusion. Therefore, we have to keep consciousness at hand, performing our body and mind training to deal with crimes against humanity of any type. We have to attain higher levels of peace of mind, preventing the self from stepping into a period of suffering while dealing with obnoxious situations. We have to keep clear as crystal what we face on the outside to confining the worst enemy within: our own suffering.
The moment we realise that understanding our own suffering is the only way to step into our personal evolution, it is the moment we understand why a conscious and peaceful state of mind is the most powerful asset we have the capability to acquire while dealing with crimes against humanity such as racism and discrimination of any type.
