The prison we may see as part of an illusion we are inserted into is holding the self just because we are deep into a state of suffering, where we could not open our wings to fly, exploring the benefits a conscious mind could offer. We start accepting anything out of understanding, which implies being unconscious about the performed actions, and the path being followed. We may be on the move but we are actually static in the same position, unable to fly out. The bars, the prison we may see through the illusion of the mind are not holding the self, they are just there to remember negative emotions, or feelings we may have experienced in the past, freezing actions in the present moment. The liberation from such an illusion represents being conscious about what happens within, and in the surroundings, in the present moment.

Liberating the self from the fear of a possibility to experience negative emotions is an important step to understand suffering like Buddha, the enlightened one, has done in his time. It is part of our evolution, stepping out of the illusion of being controlled by our emotions instead of ruling them. When we are following the negative conditioning we have been subjected to, we may have difficulties to see through our naked eyes we are in control. Events in the surroundings, such as the presence of a pandemia, may influence the negative sensation of being into a prison with no walls or bars. No matter how harsh the environment we are living in is, and how challenging the situation we are experiencing becomes, such a sensation is an illusion.

By keeping consciousness at hand, and establishing a reasonable ground to build knowledge based on observation, analysis, and understanding, we prepare the self to step out of such an illusion, expecting nothing but our own evolution. Clear thoughts, conscious acts, and a peaceful mind are just the results we get from the moment we become the ruler of our own mind.
